Interested in coming in to use the equipment, get a little direction from me on a certain project, or just get out of the house and do nothing but create?
Buy open studio time from $40 per 3-hour session. Save $150 by purchasing ten sessions at a time for $250.

PMC—TIME CRUNCH CLASS with Kathy Hunter
For those that would like a special private class to learn about Precious Metal Clay, I have a three hour “Time Crunch Class” by appointment only in which you will learn about PMC, work with it and create pieces to take home with you. This class includes your clay and equipment to work with. Just come with your imagination…

“Pure Silver” Wednesdays – for those that don’t have to have a private class, I am offering this same class on the last Wednesday of every month at a substantial savings. You will be joined by other people interested in this class and can make a small pendant or a pair of earrings.

SPECIAL WORKSHOPS
Pre-teen and Teen Classes – Beginning June 2009, I will be adding classes for Preteens (ages 10-13 years old), and teens (ages 14-17). During the summer months, classes will be on Monday mornings for Pre-teens and Thursday afternoons for Teens. Check the Calendar for specific dates and projects.
DICHROIC GLASS & PMC with Kathy Hunter
In this three, half-day workshop, we will make a dichroic glass cabochon on the first day; fit it in a PMC pendant, and finish on the last half day.

PMC & RINGS with Kathy Hunter
Anyone fascinated with rings will love this one day class. We will make three rings; one on a ring mandrel, one ring will be torch fired with 22K Gold Accent, and lastly will be my own design of the adjustable ring.

Learn the ancient art of Keum Bo with simple techniques to add gold accents to your PMC pieces. We will explore the differences of gold foil, 24K gold sheet, and Aura 22™; and application techniques for each.

Mosaics – Marg Nelssen
Take your tiny treasures that have been stuck in a drawer for centuries and make great memorable mosaics. Marg shows you how by bringing in a copper covered frame to begin your project. She talks about the different collecting strategies she uses, her use of anything and everything. Bring your own pieces, use pieces from Marg’s collection, bring some pieces to share or trade.

Bezel Setting in PMC – Geri Colgrove
Geri Colgrove, a PMC certified instructor, has mastered the art of bezel setting into PMC. We’ve all collected favorite cabochons and discovered that they cannot be fired with our PMC creations. Geri takes the mystery out of PMC shrinkage in this five hour workshop and teaches tips and techniques of working with bezel wire and PMC.

Enameling - Terry Cook
Terry Cook is our featured metal smith at THE LOFT. In this one day workshop, 10am-4pm, she will show the many techniques of fusing glass to metal. Plique a jour, cloisonné’, sgraffito, are just a few of the techniques that you will learn. Enameling is the glass material that blends perfectly with the fine silver of PMC.

CHAIN MAILLE CLASS – Mary Heldenbrand
Mary is offering a series of beginning and advanced chain mail classes that includes four to eight patterns. She will show techniques of making your own jump rings manually or with a flexshaft. You will start with copper or brass jump rings. Sterling silver or specialty wire can be used and will raise the price of the materials. Chain Maille Beginning patterns include Byzantine, Parallel, European 4 in 1 and European 6 in 1. The Advanced patterns include the Persian, the Half Persian, the Oval, and the Japanese 12 in 1.

TEXTURIZING PHOTOPOLYMER PLATES FOR PMC – Dale Courtright
Tired of using other people’s designs from rubber stamps to make your PMC creations? And then wondering about copyright infringements and laws? Here’s a solution! Make photopolymer plates from your own designs to use over and over again. Draw out a high contrast black and white design and Dale will help transform this piece of paper into a texture plate.

VIKING WEAVE BRACELET AND NECKLACE – Julia Harmon
Two classes of Viking weave is taught by Julia. The first is a copper bracelet and you will make your choice of two clasps. The second class is a three part Viking weave made directly on a suede leather cord. Try your hand at this ancient art that is the foundation of knitting!
